WP1 Industrial crossbred with sexed male beef sperm in dairy cows (dairy–beef crossbred)

Purpose

The aim of WP1 is to provide guidelines to the Greek breeders for the correct use of dairy-beef crossbred.

Materials and methods

  • Selection and evaluation of proper sexed male beef semen
  • Estrous/ovulation Synchronization of dairy cows
  • Artificial insemination of dairy cows with sexed male beef semen to produce male calves appropriate for fattening from dairy cows
  • Determination of the proper time for Artificial Insemination
  • Diagnosis of pregnancy with PAG

Expected results

During Work Package 1, crossbred male calves, suitable for fattening, will be born from dairy cows. Their carcass will be labeled GREEK.
