WP3 Calf fattening

Purpose

The aim of WP3 is the fattening of calves that will be born during WP1, under controlled conditions. The carcass of these animals will be labeled as Greek. The results of WP3 will contribute to the increase of farmer’s income, the reduction of the production cost, the increase of the added value of carcass and, ultimately, to the improvement of the competitiveness of both dairy and beef industry.

  • Management of the calves at dairy farm
  • Management of calves until slaughter

Expected results

During Work Package 3 is expected to set the guidelines for the management of crossbred beef Greek calves, in terms of proper nutrition (required ratios) and rearing environment. The ultimate goal is the production of a final product with superior features and increased added value.
